Network of Thoughts
The Network of Thoughts shows that one gains more by sharing of thoughts and ideas than by protecting them.
The Network of Thoughts is a media art of piece that connects thoughts of people all around the world. It tries to show that one gains more by sharing of thoughts and ideas than by protecting them. The Network of Thoughts is both an aesthetic visualization and a supporting tool for creating, organizing and further developing thoughts and ideas. Rather than a visualization of thoughts the challenge of this piece of art is the ways of organizing and connecting in order to give a structure to the thoughts. The core of the piece of art is the connections between the thoughts.
In the Network of Thoughts the thoughts are presented as neurons. They are part of a large network with synapses in between that try to give a meaning to the network.
Every thought influences the structure of the network at large. When a user starts a new network he is invited to submit a thought. As soon as the user starts to enter a thought the Network of Thoughts reacts by showing earlier thoughts that were added to the overall collective network. The user can accept these thoughts or reject them and add more own thoughts. A thought that is accepted becomes part of the new ‘own’ network, a rejected thoughts remains part of the collective network.
